It is always an absolute pleasure to show guests my backyard. 70 delegates from a University Alumni in the US enjoyed an incredible two days with us, viewing cuddly koalas and snappy crocodiles after an Aussie BBQ lunch at Rainforestation before a leisurely Skyrail ride over the rainforest canopy before transferring to the luxury of the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas. Day two was the magnificent Great Barrier Reef - flat calm and sunny, we convinced many to try a helicopter ride, helmet dive and guided snorkel. It was hugs all round at the airport the next day to farewell them onward to Sydney!
A spectacular day was had on the Great Barrier Reef by 46 incentive delegates on board Wavelength Reef Cruises for a day of snorkelling this incredible natural wonder. Only half the delegates had snorkelled previously, and it was my absolute pleasure to buddy up with one gorgeous lady who was particularly nervous. Kitting her up in a wetsuit and life vest, we jumped in together and I showed her my back yard. A fantastic day filled with colourful coral, stunning fish, a delicious lunch buffet and chocolate brownies to die for!
A stunning two days hosting writers from the Australian Society of Travel Writers Conference on behalf of TTNQ. Our group delighted in exploring the stunning Tablelands region, sampling local produce and spotting the elusive platypus before spending the evening in the tranquil surrounds of the Wet Tropics Rainforest in gorgeous treehouses!
Working within the local community is so much fun, and I had the pleasure to assist Kevin host the annual "Rainforest Resuce" trivia night in Port Douglas raising much needed funds to contribute to the purchase of vacant blocks in the Daintree Rainforest to enable revegetation. A great night!
Selling Port Douglas and the Daintree is something I have enjoyed for twenty years - and it never gets old! Sell TNQ is the region's premier Business Events Trade Show with 36 buyers flown in to region to learn about what their guests can experience. This year it was topped off with a 30 minute balloon flight on the Tablelands - an incredible activity for any group up to 100 guests!
A lovely two and a half days meeting and greeting on arrival and assisting with touring options in the foyer of the Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas - the view was terrible!
Part of the reason I live in the Far North is due to the amount of FUN we have! On New Years Day, my daughter and I headed up to Cape Tribulation with friends to watch the Dinosaur racing on Myall Beach! A fundraiser for the Cape Tribulation Rural Fire Service, it was a complete hoot! Inspiration for team building maybe - the T-Rex in this shot is my 13 year old daughter who LOVED it! Click the image to watch the race on the Visit Port Douglas Daintree Facebook page - video and commentary by Wayne Soxsmith!
